Beyond Ourselves

6.Story in Beautiful English

Today’s Reading is entitled: Beyond Ourselves

I had a student who didn’t seem very interested In English classes. On my last day at that school, she gave me a present. I was happy and I think I was also surprised. I didn’t not know that I had made a positive impact on her. Here was the child who seemed uninterested in classes with a present. She smiled and I was thankful.

Sometimes it’s not easy to know the impact we have on others. We sometimes rely on facial expressions, but one thing is, we cannot read people’s hearts.

Todays Reading is taken from :
Samuel 16:7 (New International Version)
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God wants us to proclaim His Word whenever we go. Whether at work or in our personal lives, He wants us to have a positive influence on others. We may never know what a person is going through, but with words of comfort through God, we can break barriers and create smiles. We see our family, friends and coworkers and sometimes they show their true feelings, but sometimes people hide that of which their heart feels. Some have emotional scars that they are afraid to speak of. Others walk by with guarded emotions, reflective of pain from the past. It’s also true that it’s easier to share your true feelings with whom you trust the most.

We all need words of encouragement when we feel discouraged, and that’s where God wants us to not be quick to make conclusions based on what our eyes see. He expects us to be compassionate and mindful of how we approach each other.

At times we may be afraid to approach people because their attitude, but let’s seek God, for on Him, we can rely.

Today’s Encouragement is:
May God help us to be gentle, to look beyond our human sensibilities and rely on Him to show us the way.

Prayer
We thank you Lord, for being our God, Shepherd and King. We thank you for your blessings and tender mercies. We pray that we may be more like you, that we may make the right choices and decisions. Please Lord, be with us individually and collectively . Help us to be compassionate towards each other. Guide and protect us, I pray in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
